A Michigan couple has been indicted by a Fentress County grand jury on child abuse charges.

Jason and Jessica Klimp were arrested in Fentress County in February after their 12-year-old adopted daughter became unresponsive and was taken to a hospital where it was discovered she was severely malnourished.  The girl’s biological sister, who was also adopted by the Klimps, was malnourished as well.

According to warrants, Jason Klimp claimed he pureed the girls’ food because they had problems eating solid food.  Warrants say the girls were also forced to sleep in totes in the cold basement with no covers as punishment for wetting the bed.

The Klimps have four biological children and four adopted children.

The Klimps have been indicted on six counts of aggravated child abuse and neglect.
